When preparing artwork to be manufactured using a Laser Cutter there are a few points that need to be considered before you start. Please take the time to read through these resources before supplying your design.
Our machine works with two different types of data.
Vectors can be produced in many illustration and drawing programs, like Adobe Illustrator or AutoCAD
Vector graphics use geometrical points, lines, curves, and shapes to represent images. Each of these points has a definite position on the x and y axes of the work plane and determines the direction of the path. The result is a 2D image with paths that can be enlarged without the loss of information. These paths can be read by our machines, and they dictate the position and intensity of each cutting stroke.
We accept vector files such as .AI, .SVG, .EPS, .PDF, .DWG or .DXF.
Images for raster engraving can be supplied to us in bitmap format. 1 Bit Bitmaps can be made using Adobe Photoshop, GNU Image Manipulation Program or specialist engraving software. We only accept 1Bit Bitmap files (.BMP) for our engraving service.
These files are interpreted by our machine to turn the laser on for black pixels and off for white pixels.
It is very important that the highest dpi image is supplied as DPI’s less that 150 will not be reproduced as expected. We recommend a DPI of 300 for the best results and file size. Please note that .BMP files cannot be resized in the same way vectors can and it is imperative that you provide images which are sized correctly.
